Visually Challenged persons
Description and Functionality
The device (medicine box/pill box) helps the visually challenged to identify the medicine and also provides an alert regarding the time of taking the medicines. The device has to be designed, in such a way that medicine recognition system is incorporated using sonic labeler and Alerting System has been designed using digital alarm circuitry which is having a provision of six alarm options along with Time display.
State-of-the-art
Visually challenged persons can easily identify the medicine by touching the sensors placed on the top of the box or using sonic labeler which speaks out the medicine details. The device automatically pops up the voice message to take medicine as per the timings set in the alarm. Hence prevents human intervention and helps to take medicine in time.
        Stage of Development
The pill box has been field tested in homes, hospitals and old age homes and is ready for commercialization.
