Welcome Remarks from the President General Body
1. Dr Anil Kakodkar, President General Body presided the meeting, and welcomed the members of the body to the
54th Governing Body Meeting & 31st General Body Meeting of Vigyan Prasar (VP).
2. He lauded the efforts of VP in the field of Science Communication, Popularization & its Extension (SCoPE).
3. He also appreciated the growth of VP’s flagship project, IndiaScience, nation’s S&T OTT Channel.
4. He mentioned the need of IndiaScience to be on DTH (television), and thus, suggested the revival of IndiaScience on Doordarshan.
5. Citing an example of science program that was telecast on DD Sahyadri (regional channel of DD in Marathi) during the lockdown period, he suggested to utilize the efficacy & reach of regional channels of DD esp. while reaching out to the school children.
6. He emphasized the need to develop more interactive & interesting programmes for school-going children and teachers.
