Advantages of cookies
• A cookie is stored on the client computer.
• It can be ready by the server after a request for a page is posted.
• A cookie is a text-based data structure that contains key value pairs.
Therefore , it is easy to create and manipulate cookies.
• A cookies can either expire when the browser session ends or exists
indefinitely on the client computer, subject to the expiration rules on the
client.
Disadvantages of cookies
• Cookies are sent to the server with every HTTP request.
– Slow down web application
– Send data unencrypted over the Internet , except for SSL
• Cookies are limited to 4KB per domain.
• Cookies are tied to the browser session, not browser window/tab.
