You're Ready to Plant
Use a hand trowel to dig a hole slightly wider
than your plant's root ball. Tap the plant from
the container and set in the hole, slightly
deeper than it was set in the pot. Replace soil
over the roots and gently firm it.
Since some transplants, such as tomatoes and
cabbage grow very tall, you may need to
transplant deeply. Perennial vegetables need
special consideration since they'll grow in the same location for many years.
