Hello to all showmen, show societies and friends of our industry,
The insurance crisis and covid-19 situations are still dominating our world and causing uncertainties in our working lives.
The insurance crisis has somewhat subdued with insurance now being offered but at incredibly inflated premiums; so inflated that
operators really have to consider exactly what equipment they utilise each season to insure to try and minimise the premium, and still in the equation is the fact that there is a minimum premium cost being offered.
This seems like a double edged sword to have to contend with, and smaller operators are being shut down on a regular basis at the moment.
We really are now in desperate need of the DMF to save our industry for future generations.
The covid-19 pandemic is ever evolving and new variants are discovered and reported on a regular basis, just when we seem to be getting on top of the virus and we get back to doing what we do another setback with a new variant threatens to shut us down again.
The showmen that have run their own events have reported better than average trading as the main ingredient into country shows and festivals is what we bring to the table in our thrill rides and other attractions.
A huge thank you to the country shows that persevered through all the endless documentation required by the various government health authorities to hold their event and one such lady told me she kept on pushing through so that the local kids and families had been through so much sad days, it was time to put some normality and fun back in their lives.
I’m hoping for some good news in the very near future on the DMF front so that all operators can get back to business as soon as possible.
In closing I wish you all safe prosperous trading!
Best regards
Daryl. C. Girdler President
