A big hello to all Showmen, Show Societies and
friends of our Industry
Since my last report in this magazine we have survived another cold, wet southern winter.
In June we held our annual general meeting and through these pages I welcome Jamie Frame to our ranks, who was successful in her application to join the Guild.
Jamie is the daughter of Jodie who travels with us and also the partner of one of our young committee men Clayton Smans.
Also since last report we have made some headway in gaining design registration from the Gods in that members have been granted two design registrations out of a list of around 10 applications we have submitted.
It just seems that it is a way too long and arduous task that is seeing applications bounce back to applicants for the most frivolous and insignificant reasons – we just have to stick with it and make sure all boxes are ticked and Ts crossed I s dotted to cut down time to achieve design registration.
At the time of writing the capital Show season is upon us and some of the best rides from some of the best manufacturers in the world will be missing from the Royal Adelaide Show 2019.
This has resulted in a bit of a windfall for our members who have been given the opportunity to take up the space that has become available – how can rides be able to operate worldwide but not here in SA?
The Royal Show Society here are wanting to put the best Show possible with world class rides and are unable to do so because of an interpretation of the regulations by our Gods.
I am unsure of the specifics so would like to add “without prejudice” in here somewhere so as not to falsely accuse anyone or entity without knowing the full story.
Also those rides have been trading in previous years so go figure. In closing I wish everyone safe prosperous trading!
