9. Long service leave – pending the development of a uniform national long service leave standard, an employee`s long service leave can be covered by a pre-modern award or the relevant State Long Service Leave legislation. Determining the appropriate long service leave instrument which applies to your employees can be complex.
It is strongly recommended you seek advice from VACC Industrial Relations for all long service leave queries.
10. Public holidays – a paid day off on each public holiday, except where reasonably requested to work, a day off in lieu by mutual agreement or public holiday penalty rates apply.
11. Notice of termination and redundancy pay
• up to four weeks’ notice of termination (plus an extra week for employees over 45 years of age who have been in the job for at least two years);
• up to 16 weeks’ severance pay on redundancy, both based on length of service.
The requirement to pay redundancy under the NES is dependent on the number of employees in your business. Check with VACC Industrial Relations.
12. The Fair Work Information Statement from the Fair Work Ombudsman must be given by you (the employer) to all new employees.
13. The Casual Employment Information Statement from the Fair Work Ombudsman is attached for your information. This must be given by you (the employer) to all new casual employees.

Fair Work Information Statement (FWIS)
Employers must give every new employee a copy of the Fair Work Information Statement (the Statement) before, or as soon as possible after, they start their new job.
The Statement provides new employees with information about their conditions of employment. The Statement has information on:
• the National Employment Standards
• right to request flexible working arrangements
• modern awards
• making agreements under the Fair Work Act 2009
• individual flexibility arrangements
• freedom of association and workplace rights (general protections)
• termination of employment
• right of entry
• the role of the Fair Work Ombudsman and the Fair Work Commission.
