Hello to all showmen, show societies and friends of our industry,
A big hello to all showmen, show societies and friends of our industry the spring run has now ended, and we are into our Christmas carnivals.
Rain, wind and a lot more rain has plagued us throughout the run with the day after show day usually a nice day it seems as though the rain gods were taunting us in some crazy way.
Mt Gambier show was the biggest on record, in regard to equipment that showed up, as several Shows were cancelled in Victoria due to the floods. By most accounts it was a good ride show but games suffered a little due to too many.
The rent relief program has been a great system to have in place at this time, and it has helped us offset our fuel costs now that the price per diesel has astronomically increased along with the fuel rebate being removed from trucks, and drastically reduced for generators.
The insurance crisis is still with us, although now we can attain coverage if we jump through all the hoops, sign our lives away over and over, and are prepared for premiums increased in some cases by 500 per cent. This has resulted in most of us only insuring the equipment we use regularly.
