WARRAGUL SHOW
1 – 3 March 2019 Celebrating 134 Years
If you ran a quick poll and asked locals what’s on the first weekend in March in Warragul the resounding answer would be The Warragul Show.
The Show has become an autumn institution in the bustling regional centre and often trusted as a “drought breaker’ for those working the land.
It can be bone dry in January and February, but come the first weekend in March the heavens have been known to open just in time for the Show.
Provided it stays warm many people don’t mind getting a bit wet to turn out for the many and varied events.
This year (its 134th Show) will be no exception as the weather leading up to it has been even drier than usual. But the hard working committee will have their fingers crossed and hoping for some balmy autumn nights as it tests a new program.
This year for the first time ever the popular carnival will run over two nights; Friday and Saturday.
Until two years ago Friday had been the traditional carnival evening program culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.
However, the committee was keen to try something different and changed the program to all day Saturday with a Saturday night carnival and Sunday dedicated to horse events.
After a request from the Showman’s Guild the committee is trialling a Friday and Saturday evening with the Saturday program concluding with the always popular fireworks.
