Dear readers of the Outdoor Showman,
Well, a new year and hopefully a successful one for all.
With Rockhampton up and running again with the new administration there, all should go ahead smoothly.
Congratulations to all that were involved in the negotiations with the newly appointed committee, as well as the Rockhampton City Council. Just goes to show how working together almost always meets with great result.
Also, the Gold Coast Council have approved the Broadwater Parkland again for a further 4yrs. with a free entry and a rather large grant to organise and run the show there. Also we are currently in negotiations with the show Society for an agreement that extends for the duration of the time that the show will be held at the Parklands.
It has been passed by the members of the Showmen’s Guild that every show must be levied. This was brought in so as to leave our Guild Fees at a sustainable rate. Your office does require the levy to be collected at every show. An organisation the size of the Showmen’s Guild that negotiates on behalf of our members for over three hundred shows a year, requires the income from these levies to function efficiently.
If there is no delegate at your show, the member collecting the rental on behalf of the Showmen’s Guild is required to collect the levy and bank it to the office. Sue at the office is always available to help with this situation.
At this time of writing, our accountants are really putting in a lot of time to get the financials out. These will be available to Members on the Showmen’s Website approximately 13th March.
