Shrimps 1: (12 months to 2 years) This parent and child class provides structure while allow- ing the child to be comfortable in the water along with the parent.
Shrimps 2: (2 years of age) This parent and child class provides structure while encourag- ing the child to continue to explore the pool alongside a parent.
Shrimps 3: (3 years of age) This parent and child class fosters safe independence by encouraging the children to, through use of oatation aids, move independently alongside a parent.
Beginner 4 Year Olds: (4 years of age) Chil- dren are encouraged to be comfortable in the water, while learning basic oats and locomo- tion skills.
Intermediate 4 Year Olds: (4 years of age) Locomotion skills are improved upon with less use of oatation aids. Children continue to build on basic oats and safety skills.
Advanced 4 Year Olds: (4 years of age) The freestyle stroke is introduced, as well as swim- ming on the back. Child must be comfortable putting his/her face in the water.
Level 1: (5 - 12 years of age) Beginner swim- mers work on gaining con dence in the water by using oatation devices to assist in move- ment, submerging their face in the water and basic oating. Safety emphasis is on wearing a life jacket when appropriate.
Level 2: (5 - 12 years of age) Beginner swim- mers expand their con dence level in the water by swimming without oatation for 15 yards, submerging and retrieving an object from underwater and basic movement while on their back. Safety emphasis is on entering the pool appropriately.
Level 3: (5 - 12 years of age) Swimmers are introduced to the freestyle stroke using rotary breathing and the elementary backstroke
with a utter kick. This is the last level taught in the shallow sections of the pool. Safety emphasis is on swimming with a friend in a supervised area.
Level 4 (5 - 14 years of age) This is the rst level taught in water where the swimmers cannot stand. Swimmers begin to build endur- ance while swimming the freestyle, and the backstroke and side stroke are introduced. Swimmers learn how to dive into the deep water from the side. Safety emphasis is on when to call 911.
Level 5 (5 - 14 years of age) Swimmers con- tinue to perfect the freestyle and backstroke, while being introduced to the breaststroke. More endurance in both swimming and treading is built. Swimmers are introduced to the front dive from the diving board. Safety emphasis is on what to do in an emergency.
