P. 2
If you upgraded to the standard Plan F with no deductible, you’d pay about $2,000 each year
more in premiums, so you’re probably better off in your current plan where in most years you
won’t have to pay the full deductible. But maybe you can get lower premiums.
Let me know if you have questions. If you’d like for me to look at your drug coverage in a month
or so when the 2019 plan information is available, I’ll be glad to do so. I’d need the names of
your drugs, their dosages (10 mg, etc.), and how often you take them (once a day, twice a day,
etc.). Also, whether you prefer to get your refills at a local pharmacy or by mail-order, as well as
the name of your preferred pharmacy. Then I can find the lowest cost plans in 2019 and you
can decide if it makes financial sense to switch, which you can do by calling the insurance
company that sponsors the lowest-cost plan for your Rx drugs.
Sincerely,
David Armes, CFP®
