Medigap policies do not include prescription drug benefits, and so people who get a Medigap
policy must also enroll in a Part D stand-alone plan. Appendices D1 and D2 include a list of the
stand-alone plans in your area and their costs for your Rx drugs. If it turns out you are
interested in a Medigap policy, let me know and I’ll send you additional information about their
pricing and what to look for.

               Rx Drug Plan Coverage

The first page of Appendix D1 lists your Rx drugs, dosages and monthly quantities as they were
entered in the Medicare web site’s Plan Finder – it then uses this information to find the
lowest-cost plans (either Advantage or stand-alone) for a set of drugs.

All seven of your drugs have generic versions, which makes them relatively inexpensive. As you
can see on page 4 of the evaluation, in any of three Advantage plans you can save roughly $300
a year by switching to mail-order refills. To do that, you will need new prescriptions from your
doctors. You can still use your Advantage plan, of course, to get short-term prescriptions filled
at a CVS Pharmacy, which a preferred pharmacy in all three of the Advantage plans.

Finally, Susan, there are a couple of things to keep in mind as you make the transition to
Medicare. On your initial visits to your doctors after March 1, show the office staff your new
enrollment cards. That will help to avoid any billing confusion. Also, you’re entitled to a free
“Welcome to Medicare” physical (see page 11 of the evaluation), but you’ll probably have to
               request it.

                                                   Sincerely,

                                                   David Armes, CFP®
