Dear Ms. Yajarano:
Your Medicare evaluation is enclosed. Please check the information on the client data sheet on
page 5 to make sure it is correct.
In most cases, the costs shown in your evaluation are estimates for the 2021 plan year.
Medicare has not yet said how much next year’s Part B premiums and cost-sharing amounts will
be, and for these the 2020 costs are shown.
Your supplemental coverage options
In your questionnaire, you indicated that you would like to see comparisons of both types of
supplemental coverage – 1) Advantage plans and 2) Medigap plans combined with a Part D
stand-alone plan. But there are not any Advantage plans in Montgomery County that are a
good fit for you, and so your evaluation compares three Medigap plans.
Since Medigap policies do not cover prescription drugs, you will also need to enroll in a
Medicare prescription drug plan (PDP), often called a stand-alone drug plan. When you enroll in
a stand-alone drug plan, you will be enrolling in Part D. Here are the steps you will need to take
within the next few weeks.
1) Decide which Medigap plan you want – Plan F, Plan G, Plan L, or another plan. Then
it’s a good idea to call at least three insurance companies and get current quotes.
When you decide which insurance company you’ll get your Medigap policy from,
you can sign up on the phone, indicating that you want your coverage to go into
effect on January 1, 2021.
2) Choose which of the two stand-alone drug plans described in the Rx drug coverage
section you want to enroll in. Then call that plan to enroll effective January 1, 2021.
The phone numbers are shown on page 4 of your evaluation and also in the Rx drug
coverage section below.
You should receive your new enrollment cards within two or three weeks after you call.
