Essential Oil Recipes For The Elderly

The use of Essential Oils with the elderly has been proven to be beneficial in many ways.
Whenever possible allow the individual to choose the Essential Oils that they prefer. If
non-communicative, observe body language and facial expression for insight into their
likes and dislikes.

We suggest the following applications and dilutions when using Essential Oils with the
frail or elderly.

Bath

Add 1-2 drops to Clay Vitality or Vitality Bath Salts and mix into warm bath water.

Cleaning/Disinfecting

Many Essential Oils are antibacterial and antiviral; add 1-2 drops to dishwasher, washing
machine, and cleaning products to clean & disinfect.

Dietary

Under the supervision of a licensed practitioner, you may ingest GRAS (“Generally
Regarded As Safe”) approved Essential Oils by putting 1 drop in a veggie capsule with
carrier oil. GRAS approved oils can also be added to recipes, sauces, and dressings using
a toothpick.

Diffusion

Diffuse 5 drops in a cool mist Essential Oil diffuser. Limit to 15 minutes, hourly.

 Aromatic Emotions...

How often has the aroma of a freshly baked pizza instantly lifted your spirits? Think back to
the last time you inhaled the aroma of cookies in the oven. If you pay close attention you’ll
notice your body instantly start to relax. Does the smell of a hospital or the aroma in a
doctor’s office set your heart racing or your palms sweating?

The Aromatic Emotions stored in each of our brains are as different from each other as the
experiences we had when we first inhaled the aroma. This is part of the reason why not
    everyone likes the same smells.

When you think about the good times and, yes, the bad times too, you will realize that they
each have an aroma attached to them.

Our memories don’t decide to keep only the good things that occur in our lives. Our body,
specifically the limbic system in our brain, stores all of our memories, and with them, the
aromas that were present at that time.
