                 Be Social Media Savvy
Maintaining your social media accounts can feel like a full-time job, but there are lots of things you can do to minimise the amount of time you are in front of a computer. All of these apps are now designed to be used easily via an app on your smartphone so you can use them on the go! Not only can you utilise spare time when travelling – why not create some posts on a long journey? – but you can also provide relevant, real-time updates. For example: ‘Just boarded a bus to Kibworth for my signing at @KibworthBooks!’
Post Scheduling
Creating regular posts can take a lot of time, and you may not have long periods of time to dedicate to updating Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram. Luckily there are post-scheduling websites like Hootsuite (www.hootsuite.com) that you can use to help you manage your tweets/posts by scheduling these ahead of time. For example, you can set up a week of tweets so that you can post new content every day. This is particularly helpful if you are going on holiday or are unavailable for a period of time. Having these posts scheduled in advance of time takes the pressure off. You can also schedule time-sensitive posts for maximum impact. For example, posting ‘I’m going to be on @BBCLeicester at 2pm’ will be largely ineffective if you tweet about it hours before. Why not schedule the post half an hour before, so whoever sees your post will have it in their mind when the time comes around? It’s also worth thinking about when you post. Most people who work full-time will not be looking at their news feeds or timelines at 10am but likely will be online at 12pm!
