O ce Contents
DEFINITION
The term 'documents' shall mean:
 lms, tapes, addressograph plates, books, records, maps, plans, drawings, abstracts, deeds, wills, mortgages, agreements, manuscripts, le ers, cer  cates, documents and similar wri en, printed or otherwise inscribed papers and documents used by the Insured in the business and owned by them or for which they are responsible, excluding money, current postage or revenue stamps, cancelled and uncancelled coupons, securi es, bearer bonds, cheques, dra s and any wri en order to pay a sum certain in money and any wri en evidence of indebtedness or obliga on and all property carried or held as samples or for sale or for delivery a er sale. The term 'documents' shall include computer so ware and computer data carrying media unless otherwise stated in the Schedule. The term 'documents' shall also include all of the types of document described above that are in electronic format;
PROVIDED THAT:
duplicate records of such documents are maintained away from the insured premises described in the Schedule.
LIMITATIONS
The Company's liability under this Sub-Sec on is limited to all costs, charges and expenses incurred by the Insured in replacing or restoring such documents.
SPECIFIC EXCEPTION
This Sub-Sec on does not cover:
1. loss or damage caused by:
1.1 electric or electronic or magne c injury, disturbance or erasure of electronic or magne c recordings except by lightning;
1.2 vermin or inherent defect or by processing, copying or other work upon the documents;
1.3 the dishonesty of any principal, partner or director of the Insured whether ac ng alone or in collusion with others. This Excep on shall not apply to any director who is also an employee of the Insured and whom the Insured have the right at all  mes to govern, control and direct in the performance of his/her work in the service of the Insured and in the course of the business;
2. wear and tear or gradual deteriora on;
3. costs involved in re-shoo ng  lms and audio-visual material and re-recording audio tapes.
4. SUB-SECTION D – LIABILITY DOCUMENTS
DEFINED EVENTS
Legal liability as a direct consequence of loss of or damage to documents as de ned in Sub-Sec on C and in respect of which payment, reinstatement or repair has been made or liability admi ed by the Company under Sub-Sec on C unless such payment, reinstatement, repair or liability has not been made or admi ed solely because the Insured is required to bear the  rst por on of the loss. The Company will not pay more than R50 000 (  y thousand Rand) or the amount stated in the Schedule, whichever is the greater.
SPECIFIC EXCEPTION
This Sub-Sec on does not cover liability assumed by the Insured under any contract, undertaking or agreement where such liability would not have a ached to the Insured in the absence of such contract, undertaking or agreement.
MEMORANDUM
In respect of Sub-Sec on D only, General Excep on 1 is deleted and replaced by the following:
"This Sub-Sec on does not cover loss, damage, liability or expenditure directly or indirectly caused by, related to or in consequence of war, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hos li es (whether war be declared or not), civil war, mu ny, insurrec on, rebellion, revolu on, military or usurped power".
