Q&A WITH YOUR EXECUTIVE BOARD
JASON DAVIS - SMA ARCHITECTS
1. What was your first job? My first ‘real’ job was working for a
beer distributer in Butte. They also distributed cigarettes and my job was
to place the
state tax stamp on each and every pack of cigarettes. We had a machine that would stamp the typical sized
Immediate Past Chair packs, but the longer packs
wouldn’t fit in the machine, so we had to hand iron on each and every stamp!
2. As a board member, you have the inside scoop. What would you share about the Chamber that other members may not know? Although not always immediately apparent, we are
always working as a board to advocate for all our business members. We have many great debates and deliberations at our board meetings regarding state and local policies and how we should weigh into those issues to best represent all
our members.
3. Words you live by: You must
have fun in your career,
every day!
4. You get to make one change for the Helena community today – what would you do? Continued development and refinement of the major entry corridors to the City of Helena.
5. Why did you initially
choose to get involved with the Chamber? The Helena community has been so generous to our firm that I feel we need to give back more than it has given us. The Chamber has been an incredible vehicle
for doing just that! I have loved the fact I am able to help drive programs and policies that can have a positive impact on all
of Helena.
6. One thing you cannot live without during the workday. Humor.
7. One adjective that describes you. My wife and colleagues probably have a few! But, I would say driven.
8. Favorite movie and why?
Jeremiah Johnson. I like movies that are based on true stories.
I have always loved spending time in the mountains hunting with my dad and family. The story is incredible considering what the early fur trappers in Montana and the west endured. They were some of the toughest people in our history and I really admire what they chose to do for a living. ■
