CRYSTAL BALL
by Hannah George
And that’s the empty promise We know we keep abiding
It’s a double standard
To be perfect
 OUR PHONES
by Fallon Turner
We all makes these promises
We all play these games
We all practice the plastic face we put on to look ok But I’m really sick and tired of not seeing any change I just want us to be real
And reliable and good inside
To not play all these games
To not push someone outside
To let someone else in
When they’re all alone
To trust people instead of thinking they’re out to do the worst
And to not rely on tech
To make us not feel alone
I just want a connection
One that’s not with my phone
BRUNO
by Chase Graham
Why do we measure our friendships in followers and streaks
Why do we put our faith in the ones we “keep”
Why do we think it’s how people make the cut
If you can tell them all your secrets If they’re trustworthy enough
And why do we say we love someone When they only make us tick
And to post what makes you bad But we all stay generic
And that’s what makes me sad Because despite all this difference We really are the same
Why do we say we care
When it’s an empty promise to them And why do we say we want to help
But when they ask we’re never there Why do we say all these lies
And think it’s somehow fair
Because to me I think it hurts
To me I think it’s sad
To me I think we’re obsolete
And to me that makes me mad
I’m thinking we’re all fake
We’re superficial and into lies
We spend more time trying to be perfect And hide what we’re told to hide
And we’re held against our wills
But won’t say a goddamn thing
We suffer in our silences
But on social media it’s a thing
We’ll complain and say we hurt
We’re depressed and troubled and mad And post our feelings out
But all we do is like the picture
We never comment we keep on sliding
