LOVE
by Maddisen Bummer
Love is an unbreakable bond.
Many have been able to loudly and confidently say that they feel loved, but there are still a lot who don’t, and I think that those people don’t understand what love can be.
Love doesn’t always mean romance.
It means secret looks between sisters as they sit at the dinner table unwilling to be the first to break down and say sorry.
It’s the bond a parent shares with their child during a sports game, pushing them to do better, but congratu- lating them regardless of how they did.
It’s friends who, even when they’ve drifted and haven’t talked in weeks, are able to pick up the conversation where it was left off.
It’s the family pet who sleeps by your feet every night, waking you up at the simplest sound because all they wish to do is protect you.
Love is having someone who is unapologetically yours, who is there for you regardless of if you messed up big time, regardless of if either of you are in a bad mood, and even in the silent nights where neither of you can seem to fill the empty spaces, but basking in the comfort of each other.
I know I am loved, and I am glad to reciprocate the love to others.
You are loved, too, even if you don’t believe it yet, I know that one day, you’ll meet someone who makes you realize what love is.
