NATIONAL SCREENING INITIATIVE
Connecting Kids to Dental Care
The nonprofit dental clinics that benefit from our Dental Resource Program provide essential dental services for kids in underserved communities. The screening events they hold do more than simply track the oral health of our nation’s kids. They also connect children with the most need to local providers who are equipped to overcome the barriers these kids face in accessing dental care.
This year, Ravenswood Family Dental in East Palo Alto, California, screened nearly 3,700 children, a 30% increase from the previous year. One of those kids was a little boy named Malik, who was found to have severe tartar buildup. Malik was connected to a dental home to address his needs and left with a goody bag from America’s ToothFairy that included a new toothbrush and fun educational materials to help him learn to keep his smile clean.
Our program members can provide services like free screenings for Malik and thousands of other kids like him each year because of the support they receive from our generous donors. Since 2006, our members have screened over two million children, helping families address issues ranging from severe cavities to lack of dental hygiene resources.
This year, members who reported screening results in both 2023 and 2024 showed a 33.6% increase in the number of children screened. Thanks to Septodont, our National Screening Initiative Title Sponsor, we growing our impact by connecting at-risk youth with the dental providers, hygiene supplies and educational resources
they need to grow up with healthy smiles and a brighter future.
