Ready for Yoga?
I Find your Space
f you’re brand new to yoga, the last thing you want is to unknowingly develop poor habits performing the mechanics of the yoga postures, which can lead to im- balance and/or injury.
Seek out classes that are suitable for beginners. Small group classes or private sessions suggest a better op- portunity for individualized attention. For women who feel more comfortable practicing yoga in a single-sex environment, look for studios who o er an exclusive setting for women only.
Your yoga teacher will introduce you to asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing practices), and medita- tion. Your yoga experience should feel safe, comfort- able, supportive, and professional. You’ll know you’ve landed in the right place when you look forward to your yoga practice as a welcome respite from the demands of the world, and you and your yoga teacher are working well together to zero in on your goals and intentions.
