New Church Construction:
Calvary Chapel has submitted a proposal to the City of Castle Rock to build a 22,506 square foot worship center which will seat 758 congregants. Access to the Church is proposed to be at 5th Street and Canyon Drive in Castle Rock. Final approval of church design and start of project construction is pending.
New Façade for Two Buildings in Downtown:
A proposal to construct new facades to the front of the buildings has received approval by
the town for the commercial building located just north of Yolandas, at 218 N. Wilcox. Outside
renovation should start early summer. Also, the owners of Ecclesia submitted a proposal to
renovate their façade to the outside of the building, and the town has given rst consideration of this proposal. Their façade will include an investment in architectural elements of the church and a new awning that would cover the stairs outside toward Perry Street. Next step is to nalize design and plans for construction. Businesses can apply to grant money to help o set costs associated with façade improvements.
Demolition of Existing Building and Construction of New Japanese Restaurant:
At 301 Jerry Street, behind the County Court Building, there is a proposal to partially demolish the existing building to make way for a two-story newly constructed building. The plan is to have a Japanese/Sushi restaurant at this location. This project has experienced major delays and has not moved forward for several months. I will attempt to nd out the cause of these delays and report in future articles.
Encore Project:
The highrise building adjacent to the Town
Hall is currently under construction. It’s very
visible to the community since there are huge
cranes and lots of workers and building activity.
Once completed, this project will have for-sale
residential condos, 600+ covered parking spaces, retail/restaurants, o ce space and a civic plaza next to the Town Hall. The developer has agreed to cover the cost of a train horn quiet zone at all three stops in the Downtown area. A dog park will also be added as part of this project. Completion will take approximately a year. Encore is currently accepting applications for those interested in purchasing condos.
