Pope John Paul II arrived at Miami's internation­
al Airport on September 10, 1987. Miami was the
first stop on his American Tour, which lasted for nine
days. Carrollton celebrated with a two day holi­
day. After meeting with religious and community
leaders for two days, the Pope left for Columbia,
North Carolina.
