Experiences: the Building of Brain Maps
So we know that, due to calm, loving caregiving by adults and lots of positive
and enriching experiences, some children have strong brain circuitry.
This means they will have strong Control Centre Skills and find it easier to
focus attention, be flexible and manage big feelings.

Other children don’t have such positive, calm or enriching
experiences. This means they don’t build such strong
brain circuitry in the Control Centre of the brain.
This in turn means it’s harder for them to control attention, be
flexible and manage big feelings.
