Snowflake Bal
Saturday, January 29
6:00 - 8:00 pm, for Middle and High School Students
The annual snowflake ball for middle and high school students is back. We encourage you to dress in semi-formal attire for an evening of dancing, dinner, and fun. We are looking for chaperones, so if you are interested please contact the Teen Services Librarian, Josh Campeau by email at jcampeau@tln.lib.mi.us or by phone at 248-758-3142.
Black History Essay Contest
The Pontiac Public Library is hosting an essay contest for Black History Month. Submissions are open on January 3rd, 2022 and may be turned in directly to the library or emailed to jcampeau@tln.lib.mi.us by the time the library closes on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022. Prizes will be awarded for two different age groups. Requirements- submit a 400- 500-word essay (ages 7-12) or submit an 800-1,000-word essay (ages 13-17) on a well-known African American figure of your choice, explaining their impact on American history. Prizes will be awarded during our Black History Program which will take place on February 26th, 2022 from 2pm to 5pm.
Poetry Slam Contest

The Pontiac Public Library’s annual Poetry Slam Contest is live once again. Poets are asked to be present early to sign themselves in as we will cut off sign up promptly at 2pm. All poems must be appropriate for all ages. There will be two rounds for the contest so come prepared with two poems, but know it is possible you may only get the chance
to read one if you are eliminated in the first round. The contest is possible through a partnership with Oakland University and prizes are generously sponsored by OU for first and second place winners.
