FROM THE DIRECTOR
Fall is nearly upon us (!), and I
think we are all in agreement that 2020 has not been the year we all expected when we were making and breaking our New Year’s Resolutions back in January.
During the three month closure, Library Staff were hard at work finding and implementing innovative and value-added ways to connect with all of you via virtual and e-services. Our Facebook page entertained and informed you
with posts on cooking, poetry, news updates, and Miss Fran’s wildly popular story times! We put more of the budget into e-books and e-audiobooks that you could immediately access from home; and we introduced Hoopla, the streaming service that allows you to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, e-books, comics, and TV shows to display on your computer, tablet, phone, or TV.
All staff returned to work June 8, after three months of free virtual training and meetings with state and national organizations, and finalized the steps necessary to ensure the safety of all per the requirements of the Governor’s Executive Orders. Curbside service began on June
15 in conjunction with Miss Mary’s extremely popular and fun Take and Make crafts for children. Then just a few weeks later the building opened to 25% occupancy on July 5.
Just know that we are all happy to be back and ready to serve your library needs—whether it is reading, viewing, or listening for pleasure; homework research; or computer access. We have missed you!

ZOOM ACCESS
Many of the Library’s virtual programs will take place over Zoom.
Zoom meetings can be accessed in three ways: through an invite link, through the meeting ID, or by phone call.
If you plan to access the meeting via invite link or meeting ID, please be sure to download the Zoom app to your device before the meeting. Check to make sure your device’s microphone and speakers are functional. You should not need a webcam to attend any of the library’s virtual programs, but the video feature may be enabled in selected programs if you would like.
To access the Zoom meeting via phone call, you will need to call the teleconferencing number provided by the library. Please note that if you choose to access a Zoom meeting by phone call, you will not be able to watch or show visual footage, but you can still hear the presenter and speak as permitted.
For more information, please visit the Zoom Help Center at support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/ articles/201362193-Joining-a-meeting or register for Shauna’s Zoom Basics class on September 17 as part of our virtual technology class series.
