NEW SERVICE:
HOTSPOT LENDING
The library now has 24 T-mobile Wi-Fi hotspots available to lend for 2 week terms, no renewals.
A Wi-Fi hotspot is a device you can use to connect a device, such as a laptop, smartphone, computer or tablet to the Internet. The hotspot is portable, so you can connect your device almost anywhere.
You can connect multiple devices at the same time.
LIBRARY BOARD TERM 2022-2025
If you are interested in running for the Library Board of Trustees you must pick up the petition packet at Pontiac City Clerk’s office in City Hall. The petition for Library Board calls for 40 signatures in order for the candidate to be put on the ballot in November 2021. The term runs from January 1, 2022 - December
31, 2025. If you have any questions about the process for running for office please contact the City Clerk’s office at (248) 758-3200. Trustees are elected citizens representing the community who constitute the body officially responsible for the operation of the library. Governing boards are policymaking boards. The board’s major responsibilities include voting on the annual budget and approving the annual audit. The board generally meets once a month, If you have questions regarding the role and

DEDICATIONS
The Pancake Pavilion is getting a new sign to honor those it has been dedicated in Memory of: Betty Stodgill, Xavier Holland, Marguerite Simpson, Hubert Price, Jr.
The meeting room formerly known for holding the Michigan Collection is named after former Acting Librarian Anna Baker Lane, the first African American appointed as Acting Head Librarian of the Pontiac Public Library. The library has received a donation of a significant doll collection from Chair Mattie Hatchett which will be on display in the Lane Room.
Mrs Anna Baker Lane began her journey for the City of Pontiac in 1948 as a Secretary in the Personnel Department. In her forty (40) years of service, she worked as an Associate Departmental Head of Personnel, taking applications and giving examinations for various job positions and classifications. After being transferred to the Library as a Department Head and Acting Librarian, she instituted the Sojourner Fun Reading Club and the Sunday afternoon at the Library which consisted of Music and Poetry. Prior to retiring she received her Associate Degree in Library Science graduating Summa Cum Laude.
