6 WORD STORY CONTEST
TEEN VIRTUAL PROGRAM GRADES 6-12 July1-July31
Middle and high school students
are invited to participate in the
Pontiac Public Library’s 6-word
story contest. What kind of
creative tale can you create using just 6 words? Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entrants. Email your name, grade, school, and 6-word entry to jcampeau@tln.lib.mi.us by 5pm on July 31 to qualify.
This contest draws from the legendary tale of Ernest Hemingway, who allegedly won a bet in the 1920s by writing a six-word novel: “For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn.”
TWEEN/TEEN SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

Tweens and teens, sign up
for our summer reading
program to win prizes just
for reading. The program is
entirely accessible online,
just register at Pontiac.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack Tracker app for your phone. You can start recording your reading on Saturday, June 19th until the end of the day on Saturday, August 14th. The drawing for our grand prize will occur in the following week. Ask our Teen Librarian, Josh about prizes you can win.
TEEN VIRTUAL DND ONE SHOT ADVENTURE

Middle and High school
students can escape to a
fantasy adventure in one of our
one shot sessions for Dungeons
and Dragons. These one shot adventures will be a taste of DnD in a one-session campaign with a lot of pre-generated elements to speed up game play. We will be playing with 5e rules. We will be using Discord to chat and Roll 20 for online game play, both are free resources to join. Spaces are limited, register in advance in order to guarantee a spot.
VIRTUAL ESCAPE ROOM: ZOO BREAKOUT
All ages June 1st- June 30th
All ages are welcome to play the
Library’s newest virtual escape room:
Zoo Breakout. Puzzles are geared
towards middle school aged students,
so younger participants may need to
work with others to solve puzzles. In
this scenario you are an animal held
in the zoo. After all the people and workers leave for the night you put your plan into motion to break yourself and all the other animals out. Will you manage your daring escape or will you get caught? Register in advance to receive a direct link to the escape room.
VIRTUAL GAMING CLUB

Pontiac teens are welcome to sign up
to play a virtual game with their friends and the Teen Services Librarian. All games will be free access on mobile or PC like Among Us, Jackbox, Roblox, and more. This is a club that meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month and will make use of a new Pontiac Public Library Discord Page for teens to utilize. Register in advance and we will send you the Discord information.
MILIBRARYQUEST:
SUMMER EDITION 2021

This is an opportunity for teens across
the state to learn about unique animals and Michigan libraries! Teens will find a variety of animal descriptions spread across the websites of participating libraries which they will enter into their digital field journal for an opportunity to win a prize starting on June 1. Visit www.mi.gov/MiLibraryQuest to learn more!
Middle and high school students who enter and complete this digital library quest by submitting their completed entry into the contest will be entered into a drawing for a fantastic prize.
