Seed Calendar
Since the growing season is relatively short in Québec, certain fruits and vegetables must
be started from seed indoors to ensure they reach maturity when transplanted out in the
garden. It is therefore recommended to start most fruit, vegetable and herb seeds indoors
beginning in March and until late April. Root vegetables should be seeded directly outside
in the garden in late May, early June. The time to start annual and perennial flower seeds
varies from January to May, depending on the variety and your particular rusticity zone.
Planting instructions are always to be found printed on the seed packet, so read carefully!
