LIFE EVENTS DURING THE YEAR
When you pay for your insurance using pre-tax dollars, you can ONLY change your coverage
outside our annual enrollment period if you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) consistent
with current IRS regulations. An eligible change includes:
Birth, adoption, or the placement of a child A change in employment status for you or
for adoption your spouse/domestic partner
Marriage You or your spouse enrolling in Medicare or
Divorce or legal separation Medicaid
Death of a dependent A court order requiring you to cover an
A dependent’s losing or gaining eligibility eligible dependent
Signiicant reduction of hours such as full-
time to part-time
Any change in coverage must be consistent with your eligible QLE. For example, if you have a
baby, you may add your child to your medical coverage; you may not remove your spouse from
coverage because of the birth of your child.
