MUP WINS JOBS

MUP's real power is that it helps win work for
our members. In Local 254's area, the Millers
Ale House Project at the Rockaway Mall in
Rockaway Township, NJ was picketed by 15
carpenters under the MUP program. Council
Representatives chose this project because of
the high number of residents that walk or drive
by the job site. With high visibility, our members
were able to get the word out and encourage
Millers Ale House to come to the table and hire
                   union.

Without MUP, the owners would likely have
awarded the project to a non-union contractor.
Instead, our successful show of solidarity
created a substantial job turnaround that
generated 2,500 work hours for Local 254
                   members.
