The Radio 2 DJ will take to the stage at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic for a
special 'Douze Points' performance. Royal Liverpool Philharmonic
Orchestra will perform orchestral versions of iconic Eurovision
songs, including 'Waterloo', ‘Boom Bang a Bang', 'Rise Like A Phoenix' and
‘Stefania’.
Owain, who raised more than £3 million for BBC Children in Need with a 24-hour
drumathon, will host tonight's show. He will appear alongside vocalists Annie
Skates, Kate Graham, Steve Trowell and Andrew Playfoot.
Speaking ahead of Douze Points, Owain said: "Darlings, hello, hello, Liverpool
calling. I'm Owain Wyn Evans and I'm so excited to be in one of my absolute
favourite cities, Liverpool, on Friday, May 12 for Douze Points, a celebration
of Eurovision hits.
"Now I don't know about you, but one of the things I absolutely adore about
Eurovision is the incredibly bonkers range of musical styles and genres that you
see every year in the contest and Friday, May 12 as part of Douze Points' you'll
be treated to some very special orchestral versions of some of our favourite
Eurovision hits."
In October 2022, Owain was announced as the new early breakfast show
presenter on BBC Radio 2, taking over from Vanessa Feltz, who stepped down in
July 2022.
He presented his first live show in Cardiff in February 2023, which as the first
Radio 2 weekday programme to move out of London.
