The strong message conveyed by this presentation is that opaque modern organisations such as
GCHQ and BAE Systems are simply carrying on the same fight against unquestionably evil
enemies as Turing and his colleagues did. That’s disingenuous, to put it mildly. If the trustees of
Bletchley Park want to extend the museum’s remit to include spying in today’s world, they need
to take a much more objective approach. And they also need to find a lead sponsor that hasn’t
been shunned on moral grounds by others in the cultural world.
