Nicola Benedetti was to perform four concerts during the Aldeburgh Festival in Sulfolk this month
but has cancelled her first three performances due to tendonitis in her wrist.
Benedetti is still hoping to perform in the final concert of the festival with the Benedetti Baroque
Orchestra performing five violin concertos, including those of Vivaldi and Geminiani.
German violinist Christian Tetzlaff will replace Benedetti in tomorrow’s concert performing Bach’s
Partita no.2 in D minor and a selection from 44 Duos for two violins by Béla Bartók performed
alongside violinist Yume Fujise. Tomorrow’s performance will be Tetzlaff’s debut at the festival.
Organisers said they were ‘very grateful’ to Tetzlaff for stepping in to perform.
On Wednesday 15 June, Elena Urioste will step in, joining the Kaleidoscope Orchestra with an
unchanged programme of a selection of short night pieces by composers including Dowland,
Schubert, Britten and Florence Price.
Urioste will also be performing Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time with Mark Simpson, Laura
van der Heijden and Tom Poster.
In an update on their website, the organisers wish Benedetti a ‘speedy recovery’ and hope Nicola
will be able to join them for the final concert of the festival on 26 June.
