BUILT TO DRIVE

With all of the quality components
and suppliers on the previous page,
we are confi dent that this year’s Tour
Rat will be a durable machine as far
as we can push it. As Bryan’s fourth
Rat Rod Magazine build, and in many
ways his most important, this car will
be paraded around the country – and
driven every mile. This includes the
drive from Sturgeon Lake Minnesota
(the home of Dagel’s Auto Fab) all the
way to Las Vegas. Since the drive is in
November, Bryan will take the southern
route and avoid the Rockies… a longer
drive, but through more predictable
weather and landscape.
The drive to SEMA symbolizes
something. It’s something we pushed
for when we started the magazine,
and we still work hard to encourage
today – and that is the “build it,
drive it” mentality. It’s one thing to
build a vehicle as a showpiece. It’s
cool, it defi nitely has its place in the
automotive industry, and we get it.
BUT, with rat rod (and really hot rod
culture as a whole,) the ability and
desire to drive these machines and
truly experience them, now THAT is
profound and special.
In November Bryan will roll into
SEMA to make a statement, as a
member of this community, an integral
part of this magazine, and as a builder
and rat rod enthusiast: Build, drive, and
for God’s sake – ENJOY IT.
