F rom the moment Cody
& Alison Urhammer of
Stillwater, MN fi rst met
Fin a small town bar, they
found they shared a love for
all things with an engine on
wheels.
They each had their own collection of
motor toys but as their relationship grew
they decided to tackle a project together.
They agreed on a “vintage something” on
four wheels. A follower of Rat Rod Magazine
for some time, Alison was passionate about
it being a RAT ROD.
“Built, not bought” is an ideal at the very
core of the rat rod culture. Both Cody and
Alison grew up working on cars, trucks,
and motorcycles. One of Cody’s fondest
memories growing up was his dad’s 1964
impala SS. At age 13 he started into the
engine, a 327 (4-speed) tearing into it,
replacing parts and getting it running.
However, neither Cody nor Alison had
experience building a car from the ground
up, and at the time didn’t have real strong
ties to the rat rod community. They didn’t let
that stop them. The search was on for the
right vehicle that they could make their own.
