Every year this turquoise Buick pulls me in. The
badges, emblems and ornaments are all pitted and rough.
The hood is rusted through, the paint cracked and fl aking
off. The details are awesome because they are organic
and couldn’t be reproduced by man if he tried. I’ll never
forget taking like fi fty pictures of the hood alone, from
two inches away. “What are you doing man??” a gruff
voice asked incredulously. The ole fella stood in disbelief
with his arms folded and a cigarette hanging from his lip.
Pistons and Paint
is a great time,
and well worth
the drive to
Denton, Texas.
Y’all come on
down and see
us…y'hear?
