1 INTRODUCTION
Recently I had a conversation with a friend of mine and he was telling me a story about his children. His son had cut his apple up and as usual left the plate, the knife and the discarded apple core on the side. Several days later one of his other children had picked out all the apple seeds and left them on the table. They were moved around, pushed and dragged by various bits of paper until the cleaners got sick of moving them and eventually threw them away. All except one. One had fallen to the floor, escaping detection!
For days that little apple seed was kicked around on the wooden floor. It eventually fell into a gap between two floorboards and remained there for some time.
Weeks later his son rediscovered it and announced, āIām going to plant this seed and grow an apple tree!ā Not wanting to
