time. I left it to get better on its own. Eventually I did some research and chose to rest it and wait for it to recover. It didn’t get better. Six months later, it was the same. Finally I went to a chiropractor who took x-rays and told me my lower vertebrae had moved forward. For months I went to this chiropractor and he conducted adjustments to my spine, stating this would move my spine back into place and for me to continue resting my lower back as much as possible. After months of seeing no improvement I went to a specialist and a sports medicine chiropractor working with a local universities football players. Rather than simply giving me adjustments to my spine, he provided me with state of the art treatments as well as numerous stretching and strengthening exercises to build up my core muscles.
I realize now that I’ve learned much more in life from my injuries than my health, and that particular injury really hammered home the principle ‘use it or lose it!’ We are designed to use our marvelous bodies. Not to continually seek out inactivity because it’s comfortable.
It is true for us and all other life, isn’t it? We are designed for continual growth in all areas of our lives and all areas of our personality – body, mind and spirit.
And if we are not growing in a particular area of life, if we are not getting better, then we are getting worse! Nothing stands still. Everything is moving in one direction or the other. It is either going forward or backward. It is in a state of growth or a state of disintegration.
