Page 57 - Life is a Fight for Territory
P. 57
Success is merely the evidence of the level of discipline and commitment you’ve held up. It’s just like physical muscles are proof of your commitment to work out every day.
Star athletes don’t become champions on the field. They are merely recognized there. They became a champion every time they said yes to their dream, got up early, finished their workout routine, and did what others were not willing to do in order to better themselves. Your success or failure is hidden in your daily routine. That’s where it all happens. If you cheat there, it will come out eventually.
Former heavyweight champion, Joe Frazier, said, “You can map out a fight plan, but when the action starts, it boils down to reflexes. That’s where your road work shows. If you’ve cheated on that in the dark of the morning, you’ll get found out under the bright lights.”
This is a perfect analogy for success in every area of our lives. It’s all about what you do when no one is watching. It’s about what you do to prepare. Do you walk in excellence? Do you operate in integrity? Are all your choices bringing you closer to the fulfillment of your dream?
Okay, now let’s go back to the chapter title, “If it’s worth having, it’s hard to get.”
This statement is both true and untrue at the same time. The bottom line is this; any choice you make has ‘hard’ attached to it:
Choice #1: If you choose to live with intention and fulfill your destiny, it will be hard. Things will come
