You can be aware of the various sounds around you, but try not to control them, try not to judge them, and try not to process them at all if you can avoid it.
You do not need to be perfectly comfortable, perfectly relaxed or in perfect silence to begin.
Remember, you do this all the time, every day. Everything counts, good enough is good enough.
