Page 11 - Self Image Mastery - Week1
P. 11
WELCOME 11
You have already created a Self Image and continue to nurture and maintain that Self Image on a daily basis. The good news is that changing it is not really that much more difficult than it was to create in the first place. You will learn to reengineer it in the same way you created it. The only key difference being that you will reengineer it consciously, whereas you created it unconsciously.
DO TODAY’S WORK TODAY
Each chapter of the book represents a week of work within the program. We have deliberately held back future chapters of the book so that you can focus on one part of the process at a time. You will see exercises to complete in advance of each lesson and exercises to complete after each lesson.
Try and set aside some time to complete these exercises if you can. They are not essential for the program to make sense and to be of interest to you, but they are essential for the program to work!
Maxwell Maltz was very clear that the Self Image is not changed by collecting information alone but by experiencing. You have to be active. Collecting information is passive whereas experience is active. Positive doing is necessary to change the Self Image, not solely positive thinking.
You will never plough a field by turning it over in your mind!
There are also exercises in the work book and to test your understanding of the material. It is a good idea to write out your answers in your own words rather than just copying sections out of the workbook or from the lessons. This causes you to process the information at a much deeper level. This significantly enhances not only your recall of the material, but much more importantly, your understanding of the material.
