No one is perfect. Everyone is perfectly imperfect and that’s the way it’s supposed to be.
So it’s probably a reasonably accurate statement to say, everyone wants to be happier. And everyone probably wants to be healthier and wealthier too!
Happiness (and health and wealth) is not something that can be sought directly. Happiness, health and wealth are very similar to success in this regard.
Napoleon Hill said that ..
Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.
Success then is the result of pursuing meaningful goals and making some progress towards them.
Happiness also comes as a biproduct of your activities in specific areas that are of value to you.
THE HABIT OF HAPPINESS
As we have discussed in previous chapters, human beings are creative beings. Your power of intention, through your imagination, gives you the extraordinary ability to create.
Intention gives us great power. It is a good idea to set the general intention that you want to be happy. This conscious use of your intention will not automatically make you happier (as we’ve already seen, happiness is not something that can be sought directly) but it will certainly help to displace the unconscious use of your intention to make yourself unhappy.
