437 As you cannot have a sweet and wholesome abode unless you
438 admit the air and sunshine freely into your rooms, so a strong
439 body and a bright, happy, or serene countenance can only
440 result from the free admittance into the mind of thoughts of
441 joy and good will and serenity.
442 On the faces of the aged there are wrinkles made by
443 sympathy; others by strong and pure thoughts; and others
444 are carved by passion: who cannot distinguish them? With
445 those who have lived righteously, age is calm, peaceful, and
446 softly mellowed, like the setting sun. I have recently seen a
447 philosopher on his deathbed. He was not old except in years.
448 He died as sweetly and peacefully as he had lived.
449 There is no physician like cheerful thought for dissipating the
450 ills of the body; there is no comforter to compare with
451 goodwill for dispersing the shadows of grief and sorrow. To
