571 his thoughts, he is not in a position to control affairs and to
572 adopt serious responsibilities. He is not fit to act
573 independently and stand alone. But he is limited only by the
574 thoughts which he chooses.
575 There can be no progress, no achievement without sacrifice,
576 and a man's worldly success will be in the measure that he
577 sacrifices his confused animal thoughts, and fixes his mind
578 on the development of his plans, and the strengthening of his
579 resolution and self reliance. And the higher he lifts his
580 thoughts, the more manly, upright, and righteous he
581 becomes, the greater will be his success, the more blessed and
582 enduring will be his achievements.
583 The universe does not favor the greedy, the dishonest, the
584 vicious, although on the mere surface it may sometimes
585 appear to do so; it helps the honest, the magnanimous, the
586 virtuous. All the great Teachers of the ages have declared this
587 in varying forms, and to prove and know it a man has but to
