                 Ever start off a math class by saying, “What did we do in math yesterday?”, only to be met with blank
                 stares? Ever wonder how to support students in thinking about their own thinking in mathema�cs? In
                 this session, we will explore instruc�onal rou�nes and strategies to engage students in metacogni�ve
                                                  thinking skills. Grades 3 - 5

                                    Ending the Failure Cycle of Black Boys in Mathema�cs

               This is a call to ac�on for educators ready to confront & dismantle the failure cycle too o�en experienced
                by Black boys. Drawing from James O'Neal’s 15+ yrs as an award-winning educator & coach, this session
               weaves together powerful storytelling, culturally responsive pedagogy, and research-backed strategies to
                                           transform classroom culture. Grades 3 - 12
