Dear SCCTM Members and South Carolina Mathematics Educators,
On behalf of the 2021 SCCTM Conference Planning Committee, I want to welcome
th
you to the 45 Annual South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual
Business Meeting and Conference being held this year in Columbia, South Carolina
selection of more than 100 sessions.
The conference team has worked very hard to build a program that highlights diverse
opportunities as the Special Agents of ∆ Academy theme is carried throughout the full
Columbia, South Carolina is the place to be November 11 – 12, 2021 for inspired
mathematics professional learning and collaboration! Our planning committee has
assembled a magnificent variety of sessions and opportunities focused on becoming
Special Agents of Change. Just as NCTM has been encouraging us for decades to
help students make connections between mathematical topics, connections between
mathematics and other disciplines, and connections between mathematics and their
everyday lives, the SCCTM Conference Planning Committee encourages you to make
connections with the many professionals who come together in Columbia to strengthen
our community of mathematics educators in the Palmetto State, and beyond.
Keynote speakers, Dr. Roy George, Dr. Dorothy White Dr. Margaret Gilmore, Dr.
Bernard Frost, Dr. Tom Peters, and Alva White all bring particular expertise in
developing and enhancing Professional Development and Change by embracing
change. During the conference you will discover how to improve your connections with
colleagues all year long so that mathematical happens across South Carolina for the
ultimate benefit of our students throughout the Palmetto State.
The SCCTM Board is excited that you are attending the conference, and after
communicating with so many of you by email, I look forward to being able to welcome you
in person. During the conference, you will learn from others as others learn from you. The
ultimate goal is to build a strong, reflective, critical, engaged community of mathematics
educators who are all willing to “Be a Change Agent,” across South Carolina – including you!
The SCCTM Board is excited to change and grow with you as we share our passion and
