Top Ladies of Distinction Remembers…

                           Lady Majorie Joyce Tandy, was a dedicated member of the Top Ladies

                                    of Distinction (TLOD) Los Angeles Chapter since 2006 holding the status of Life
                                    Time Member. She remained a faithful active member and fulfilled her duties con-
                                    cerning the TLOD thrusts. She always served with a warm spirit while serving as
                                    the Los Angeles Chapter Second Vice President, Conference Page on both the Ar-
                                    ea and National levels and as a Board Member of the National Franchell Boswell
                                    Foundation.
                                    She had a special love for the Top Teens of America and held a deep concern for
                                    the Status of Women, Senior Citizens, Community Beautification and Community
                                    Partnerships. She was also an active lifetime member of the Eastern Star, National
                                    Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and National Association of Advancement
                                    for Colored People (NAACP). A longtime member of First African American
Episcopal Church (FAME) Los Angeles, California. Having no children of her own, she supported hundreds of
young people with her love, encouragement and finances.
Lady Marjorie departed this life on December 8, 2016. She was born on June 14, 1938 to Charles Lee Paige and
Minnie Loretta Lombard in Chicago, Illinois. Lady Joyce was the second child of this union. Lady Marjorie ac-
cepted Christ into her life at an early age. Lady Joyce parents and sister preceded her in death.
She completed her elementary and secondary education through the Chicago Public School System. She contin-
ued her education at Boston College completing her Bachelors Degree. Lady Marjorie wanted to see the world
and enlisted in the U.S. Navy completing her term with an honorable discharge. She continued traveling through-
out her life visiting many countries in South America, Europe and Africa.
Returning to Chicago, Lady Marjorie worked in her parents restaurant until she decided to venture out from the
cold weather of Chicago and Migrated to Lost Angeles, California where she quickly found work in the computer
field and accepted employment with the Los Angeles Police Department and was promoted through the ranks to
Chief Clerk of the Records and Identification Unit where she retired after 35 years of service.
Lady Marjorie was a member of the First African Methodist Episcopal Church and served as a member of the
choir and participated in the Women’s Missionary Society. Lady Marjorie was a faithful member for over 45 years.
Lady Marjorie leaves to cherish her memories her family Nancy and Doug Deuchler (Oak Park, Illinois), Ruby
Larkin (Chicago, Illinois), Mrs. Muletta Green (Atlanta, Georgia), a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
