What does iit mean to you to take on an AA commiitment? DoyouallwayssayyestoAArequestsandallwayssuiitup and show up? When I do,, here’’s what happens..
My husband and I were asked iiff one off us woulld be the speaker at the annuall Pancake breakffast,, cellebratiing 79 years off AA iin San Diiego.. The event was a ffew months awayandIreplliiedthatwewoulld..Thiisiinvollvesacouplle extra ffactors,, ffiirst my husband iis undergoiing chemotherapy and he does not allways have the strength,, energy or “heallth” to get out and about.. Second,, as offten as possiiblle we head offf to our pllace iin Yuma that has become our getaway retreat.. But makiing an AA commiitment,, we take seriiouslly and make every attempt we can to meet the oblliigatiion.. So,, the date was penned on our callendars..ItwasdeciidedthatDaviidwoullddothe speakiing,,heiisthereallspeakerofftheffamiillyandenjjoys hiismomentsiinthespotlliight..Besiides,,theotherspeaker was ffemalle.. Not much more thought was giiven to the event..
Justacouplledaysbefforetheevent,,iitbecameeviidentthat myhusbandwoulldnotbeablletoattend,,lletallonespeak..I was diisappoiinted because I knew iit meant he diidn’’t ffeell welllandbecauseIwasnot“prepared”andreadytospeak,, and I’’d be doiing iit wiithout hiim there to cheer me on.. I have spoken a ffew tiimes,, but he’’s allways been there,, my “ffriiendlly fface” iin the crowd.. One exceptiion a ffew months agoIwasaskedtospeakatSouthBayPiioneers,,iitwasthe ffiirst tiime I went on a speakiing engagement wiithout hiim by
